Dimitrios Terzis
Dr. Dimitrios Terzis earned his Ph.D. in Mechanics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in 2017, after obtaining his diploma in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2014. In 2018, he co-founded MeduSoil SA, a construction-tech venture focused on developing and commercializing cement-free, low-carbon binders based on mineralization which are designed for earthworks, foundations, and building projects. At MeduSoil, Dr. Terzis spearheads the effort to introduce sustainable solutions to the construction sector by promoting the use of organic binding agents which challenge the conventional reliance on synthetic chemistry or mined binding agents, aiming to support construction projects in moving towards net-zero emissions. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Dimitrios is dedicated to research and education. Since 2019, he has been teaching the course "Innovation in Construction and the Environment" at EPFL, imparting essential skills to future innovators. With over 15 peer-reviewed journal publications and co-inventor credits in four patents, Dr. Terzis has made significant contributions to his field. He is also actively involved in business consulting and serves on the board of the Swiss Geotechnical society. In 2020, Dr. Terzis gained recognition on the Forbes 30Under30 list in "Manufacturing & Industry'' for Europe, highlighting his impactful contributions to sustainable construction and innovation.
