Bart van der Woerd
Bart van der Woerd obtained his degree in Civil Engineering and Business Administration in Groningen (Netherlands). After a career as a consultant, during which he grew to become a concrete maintenance specialist, he started a career at BAM Civiele Techniek (Top 5 contractor in the Netherlands). During this period he was responsible for infrastructure maintenance projects in the Netherlands. As director of CBBN Fireproofing International (part of BAM), he was also responsible for tunnel fire protection projects in Europe.
In addition to being director, Bart van der Woerd was chairman of the Dutch Concrete Repair Association, member of various Technical Committees, director of the Concrete Repair School, and board member of the Dutch Concrete Association.
In 2014 he founded Green-Basilisk BV a company that markets self-healing concrete products based on limestone-producing bacteria. Basilisk's expertise is developing concrete additives that make concrete more sustainable. Ultimately, you need lower costs to create the same liability. Basilisk operates in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Bart's drive is to show the world that concrete can be a sustainable building material. His passion is to pass on a more sustainable world to the next generations.
